Mexican distributors in pricing war: Conadiac

CANCUN, Mexico — A cutthroat pricing environment in the Mexican steel distribution sector is making profitability a real challenge for individual service centers, said Raymundo Díaz Oñate, president of Mexican steel distributors association Conadiac.

"We’ve adopted the mentality of, ‘What I’m not selling is being sold by my competitor,’ so we’ve begun this price war. But now the pie is much smaller because of lower demand, and we’re fighting for the crumbs. We need to change that focus," Díaz said at the second annual Mexican Steel Conference hosted by Mexican steelmakers association Canacero.....
