Steel industry said slated for disintegration

CANCUN, Mexico The global steel industry appears to be entering a period of disintegration as steelmakers look to consolidate operations to cut costs, according to Peter Marcus, managing director of World Steel Dynamics Inc. (WSD).
"Youre seeing it in China, you may see it in the United Statesmultiple-plant companies will probably have the opportunity to consolidate production at their lower-cost plants," he said in remarks at the second annual Mexican Steel Conference hosted by Mexican steelmakers association Canacero.....
