NEW YORK — Secondary aluminum alloy prices inched higher Thursday after scrap dealers refused to lower tags on major grades, sources told AMM.
Strong demand from various sectors, including the auto industry, and unchanged scrap values for key grades like old sheet, old cast and nonferrous auto shred offered strong support for most alloy tags to climb a penny Thursday from levels seen earlier in the week, alloy producers said.
The price increase didn’t hurt demand for A380.1, according to several sources, who reported trades in a range of $1.03 to $1.05 per pound Thursday. That range marks a return to levels last recorded in May and was a cent above the previous range of $1.02 to $1.04 per pound.....
