Midwest aluminum spot premiums steady

NEW YORK — Midwest aluminum spot premiums remained steady over the past week amid limited activity.

Traders attributed the slow week to the end of the quarter, when consumers keep inventories as lean as possible.

Tepid business kept Midwest spot premiums between 11 and 11.5 cents per pound.

"It was pretty quiet this week. We’re steady at 11 cents," a trader told AMM Friday. "It’s the end of the quarter. I’m hoping things will pick up (in the coming) week." ....
