NEW YORK — West Coast export prices for containerized ferrous scrap are coming under pressure after a modest price increase by exporters saw volumes drop this past week, sources told AMM.
Steady demand from Taiwan and small pockets of demand from South Korea and Vietnam encouraged exporters to increase prices for an 80/20 mix of No. 1 and No. 2 heavy melt to a range of $345 to $355 per tonne c.f.r. over the past 10 days, with some sales and buyer bids reported at $360 per tonne c.f.r. Taiwan, according to several sources. That’s up from the prior range of $340 to $350 per tonne c.f.r. (amm.com, Sept. 18).....
