Ferrochrome benchmark for Europe near 3-year low

LONDON — Europe’s fourth-quarter charge chrome and ferrochrome benchmark has settled at $1.10 per pound, down 15 cents to its lowest level in nearly three years.

The fourth-quarter settlement between South African ferrochrome producers and European stainless steel mills, which is the lowest benchmark price since the first quarter of 2010, shows the effects of falling spot prices in both Europe and China, a lack of producer discipline in South....
