Chrome ore prices poised for rise on S. African strikes

LONDON — Chrome ore prices are expected to rise in the near future as strikes sweep across South Africa, affecting transport networks and the mines themselves.
UG2 ore, basis 40 percent chrome, is trading at $165 to $185 per tonne, unchanged since Aug. 13, when the price fell $15 at the low end of the range and $10 on the high. However, market participants said that in most cases it is difficult to buy below $170 per tonne.
South African LG6 ore has been trading at $190 to $205 per tonne since July 13. ....
