Brazil's flat steel imports off 18% year on year

SÃO PAULO — Brazil’s flat steel imports totaled 184,673 tonnes in September, down 18.4 percent from 226,214 tonnes in the same month last year despite a gain in the biggest category, according to figures released by the country’s foreign trade ministry.

Hot-rolled coil represented the largest share of imports, at 50,054 tonnes, up 36.4 percent from 36,686 tonnes in September 2011.....
