Yard owners charged in alleged $1.8M theft ring

PITTSBURGH — The owners of Dodson Trucking Iron & Metal LLC are among six people who have been accused of stealing tractor-trailer loads of scrap metal worth $1.8 million over a two-year period.

Randall Brown and Melissa Brown, owners of the Whitwell, Tenn., scrapyard, along with Gary Alto, James King, Craig Meeks and Jay Sanders, have each been charged with theft of property over $250,000, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol Criminal Investigations Division and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
