NEW YORK Alcoa Inc. kicked off the third-quarter earnings season with a $143-million net loss as a number of special charges weighed down results.
The Pittsburgh-based aluminum producers net loss in the three months ended Sept. 30 compares with a net loss of $2 million in the second quarter and net income of $172 million in the third quarter last year.....
