Patriot sees venue ruling in Ch. 11 case by end of Nov.

NEW YORK — Patriot Coal Corp. can expect to learn by the end of November whether its Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection hearing will be allowed to remain in New York.

The company expects a definitive ruling within the next seven weeks, according to an Oct. 3 letter to employees from chairman and chief executive officer Irl Engelhardt.

The bankruptcy court heard arguments Sept. 11-12 about keeping the case in the New York’s southern district court. Patriot wants the case to stay in New York, as it believes it would be the most cost-effective and convenient location.....
