UTC, P&W launch supply chain plans

ATLANTA — United Technologies Corp. (UTC) and its Pratt & Whitney aircraft engine unit are establishing a "demand aggregation" strategy for raw materials that purchasing executives say will tie together their procurement efforts from mine to scrap.

The effort includes mill producers, forgings producers, machine shops and distributors, according to Maryse Ingenito, director of global strategic sourcing for Hartford, Conn.-based UTC, and William Reid, global value stream manager for forgings and mill products manager at Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford, Conn. ....
