NEW YORK — U.S. producers of electrical steels are mulling their options as low-priced imports from Japan, Poland, Russia and South Korea are increasingly making their way into the domestic market, according to the Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA).
"The average unit values shown in the (import) statistics are quite low, indicating possible dumping and below-cost sales in the United States," David A. Hartquist, partner at Washington-based law firm Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, said in a statement on behalf of the SSINA. "Domestic producers are assessing the situation to determine whether U.S. trade....
