Beam prices hold at new published levels

LOS ANGELES — Wide-flange steel beam prices generally appear to be holding at their new, lower published levels, although it’s far from certain that they will continue to do so through year-end.

Structural mills last week lowered the published list price on wide-flange beams by $30 per ton to $745 per ton ($37.25 per hundredweight) f.o.b. mill for core sizes after AMM reduced its consumer buying price for shredded automotive scrap in the Chicago market by $47 per ton (amm.com, Oct. 11).....
