Freeport hopes for pro-business policies

LONDON — Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. hopes the next U.S. government will support pro-business policies regardless of which candidate wins the election.

"What we really want to see is pro-business policies coming out of whatever administration, of whatever Congress is elected," president and chief executive officer Richard Adkerson told AMM.

He said the Phoenix-based company works with the government in an attempt to highlight the benefits of having good relationships around the world. "If you were to encourage trade, encourage economic development all around the world, it helps improve poor people’s standards of living and it give companies in the United States a chance to participate because it creates new markets," Adkerson said.....
