Nucor sets weekend outage at Ala. bar mill

CHICAGO — Nucor Corp.’s steel bar mill in Birmingham, Ala., plans to conduct a maintenance outage toward the end of the month in conjunction with Alabama Power, a subsidiary of public utility Southern Co.
The work will be performed the weekend of Oct. 27 and will require a "complete power outage" at the mill, the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker said in a letter to customers Wednesday.....
