More mills throw weight behind sheet price hike

NEW YORK Other domestic mills have begun to follow U.S. Steel Corp.s lead by increasing prices for steel sheet products by $40 per ton, sources told AMM.
"Every mill in the country is going to jump on it because we have to," one mill source said Wednesday.
NLMK USA, Nucor Corp. and AK Steel Corp. have increased prices for all sheet products by $40 per ton effective immediately, the companies said separately.
Severstal North America Inc. said it will be introducing a new minimum price of $31 per hundredweight ($620 per ton) for hot-rolled sheet and $36 per cwt ($720 per ton) for cold-rolled and galvanized products at the close of business Thursday, AMM understands.....
