CHICAGO Tough times in the construction industry and volatile steel and scrap prices have sparked a struggle for survival for some companies serving the still-troubled sector, Insteel Industries Inc.s top executive said.
"There is a huge scramble in the industry not just for market share but for survival," chairman, president and chief executive officer H.O. Woltz III said during a conference call Thursday following the release of the companys fiscal fourth-quarter results. "The difficult conditions have bred desperate tactics on the part of a lot of competitors, and its hard to say when that changes."....
