Wis. recyclers to push for new battery law

NEW YORK — Wisconsin-based lead-acid battery recyclers will push for a new battery recycling law when the state legislature resumes in January.
Assembly Bill 266 did not make it out of committee before the state assembly session closed this year, and the office of the legislation’s co-sponsor, Rep. Mark Honadel, told AMM that he is still considering whether to reintroduce the bill next year.
Milwaukee-based Remy Battery Co. Inc. and Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) had petitioned Honadel to update a battery recycling law enacted in 1991 in the hope of increasing core returns and lowering overall production costs.....
