CHICAGO Evraz Plc continued to operate its North American mills at high capacity utilization levels in the third quarter even as its global prices and output fell.
The London-based company, which owns Chicago-based Evraz Inc. North America, said Thursday that it had produced 611,000 tonnes of crude steel at its North American operations in the third quarter, up 2.1 percent from 599,000 tonnes in the same period last year but down 0.8 percent from 616,000 tonnes in the second quarter.
The overall gain in crude steel production, however, came as production volumes for everything but flat-rolled material fell.....
