W. Coast mills join coil price hikes

LOS ANGELES — The West Coast’s two major flat-rolled steel producers have joined the move to boost prices as buyers probe for clues on how much of the hike will stick.

California Steel Industries Inc., Fontana, Calif., said this week that it was raising hot-rolled, cold-rolled and galvanized sheet prices by a minimum of $40 per ton ($2 per hundredweight), while USS-Posco Industries Inc., Pittsburg, Calif., said it would implement the same increase on cold-rolled and galvanized, according to market sources.....
