Aluminum alloy prices drop, sellers hold on to scrap

NEW YORK — Free-market aluminum alloy prices have weakened slightly along with some secondary scrap grades, with many buyers reporting difficulty in purchasing scrap this past week on depressed London Metal Exchange pricing.

A380.1 dropped to a range of $1.01 to $1.03 per pound from $1.02 to $1.04 previously, while 319.1 dropped to a range of $1.05 to $1.07 per pound from $1.06 to $1.08. Prices for 356.1 also dropped to a range of $1.09 to $1.11 per pound, down from $1.10 to $1.12 previously.....
