Solid demand for aluminum extrusions in ’13: Davenport

CHICAGO Davenport & Co. LLC is optimistic about aluminum extrusion demand for next year, predicting increases in five key end markets.
The Richmond, Va.-based research company expects shipments in the automotive, trailers, electrical, machinery and curtain wall end markets to grow through 2015, analyst Timothy Hayes told attendees at the Aluminum Association and Aluminum Extruders Council meeting in Chicago this past week.
Not surprisingly, the end market that stands to gain the most ground is automotive, due to a combination of continued recovery and efforts aimed at steel substitution. Davenport estimates that automotive extrusion shipments will jump to nearly 520 million pounds in 2015 from around 350 million pounds in 2012.....
