NEW YORK - China’s Ministry of Commerce insisted on Friday that its unsuccessful appeal before the World Trade Organization’s Appellate Body on its implementation of anti-dumping and subsidy duties on U.S. imports of grain-oriented electrical steel did not represent a total loss for the Asian nation.
On its website, China’s Ministry of Commerce maintained that the WTO’s Appellate Body--despite largely siding with the United States--did not completely disagree with all of its findings, including China’s claims about the impact of dumped or subsidized imports on domestic pricing. “The WTO panel, in the use of facts available to enterprises involved in the subsidy rate ... ruled that Chinese trade remedy authorities (are) in line with WTO rules,” it said.....
