Curis calls town law unconstitutional

NEW YORK — Mineral exploration and development company Curis Resources (Arizona) Inc. has filed a lawsuit against the town of Florence, Ariz., for passing an ordinance that makes it illegal for the company to commence copper mining at its Florence property, according to documents filed with the U.S. District Court in Arizona.
The town ordinance, passed in August, called the in-situ copper recovery process that Curis plans to use a "nauseous, offensive and unwholesome business," according to the suit, and made it illegal for a company to use "large quantities" of sulfuric acid—the primary input in Curis’ proposed copper extraction process.....
