Bull Moose slates $40/T hike on HSS for Nov.

CHICAGO — At least one domestic hollow structural sections (HSS) and mechanical tubing mill has announced a price increase of $40 per ton ($2 per hundredweight) following similar price hikes by domestic hot-rolled coil mills, though market participants in the tube sector remained split as to whether the increase would stick.
Chesterfield, Mo.-based Bull Moose Tube Co. announced in a letter to customers Friday plans to lift prices on all HSS and mechanical products by $40 per ton effective with shipments Nov. 12. The company said that rising raw material costs prompted the move.
AMM had not seen price announcements from other domestic HSS mills as of press time Tuesday.
Bull Moose’s HSS hike comes after domestic coil mills announced plans to boost prices for their products by $40 per ton (amm.com, Oct. 17). Flat-rolled coil is the substrate used to make welded tubulars such as HSS.....
