NEW YORK Steel imports fell 8.8 percent from August to September due to major decreases in line pipe, cut-to-length plate and semifinished material, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Census Bureau released Tuesday.
Steel arriving at U.S. ports totaled some 2.2 million tonnes in September, down from Augusts final figures of 2.4 million tonnes. September figures also show that steel imports hit their lowest level since December 2011. ....
