Lead times for aerospace alloys shrink

NEW YORK Aluminum aerospace lead times have shortened due to seasonally weaker demand and extra capacity in the market.
Service centers are reporting lead times of between three and four months for the 2000- and 7000-series alloys, tightening from three to five months earlier this month and six months earlier this year.
Market participants pointed to the ramping up of Constelliums rolling mill in Ravenswood, W.Va., in late September following a seven-week strike as the reason behind the extra capacity in the market (amm.com, Sept. 20).....
