TK Steel USA sites pique AK interest: Wainscott

CHICAGO — AK Steel Corp. could be among the companies kicking the tires at ThyssenKrupp Steel USA LLC, especially given the Calvert, Ala., mill’s resemblance to AK’s own Rockport Works in Indiana, according to the steelmaker’s top executive.

"They’re interesting assets. Candidly, they’re assets that are an awful lot like what we built at Rockport Works some 15 years ago, and they are assets that are of interest to a lot of folks, including AK Steel," chairman, president and chief executive officer James L. Wainscott said during a question-and-answer period after a conference call following the release of the steelmaker’s third-quarter earnings Tuesday.....
