Boeing boosts guidance as deliveries rise

LOS ANGELES — Boeing Co. has boosted its financial targets for the year as its deliveries of commercial transports have risen.
The Chicago-based aerospace giant reported third-quarter net earnings of $1 billion on revenues of $20 billion vs. income of $1.1 billion on revenues of $17.7 billion in the same period last year, as higher pension costs dragged down earnings.
Chairman, president and chief executive officer Jim McNerney said during a security analysts’ earnings conference that Boeing’s build rate on the new 787 has now reached five planes per month, up from three and a half. The company hopes to achieve a rate of 10 per month by the end of 2013.....
