CMC eyes Ariz. micro-mill output boost

CHICAGO — Commercial Metals Co. (CMC) is looking to further boost production capacity at its Arizona rebar micro-mill, but it hasn’t yet found an opportunity to replicate the mill’s success elsewhere due to the current global steel glut, the company’s top executive said Wednesday.
"We are really pleased with the mill and the technology," CMC president and chief executive officer Joseph Alvarado said. "We feel like we have taken full advantage of everything that was designed into it and then some, to the point where we have gone back to local authorities for permitting to increase production capability."....
