NEW YORK Major metal-handling ports along the East Coast began shutting down Sunday evening in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey shut down at midnight Sunday, according to a spokesman. All docked vessels were sent out of terminals governed by the Port Authority, which includes the Port Jersey Marine Terminal, the Brooklyn Port Authority Marine Terminal, the Red Hook Container Terminal, the Howland Hook Marine Terminal and the Port Newark-Elizabeth Marine Terminal. ....
