Gershow works to recover from storm

NEW YORK — Gershow Recycling Corp. is still recovering from "severe but not catastrophic damage" caused by Hurricane Sandy, with four of its facilities still without power and a truck scale at its Freeport, N.Y., facility washed away by flooding.

Gershow president Kevin Gershowitz told AMM on Wednesday that four of the Medford, N.Y.-based company’s eight sites are without power due to widespread outages in the region. They are, however, running on power generators, allowing the company to continue accepting metal at the facilities, although they are not processing scrap at....
