Ambatovy to ship nickel next week: Pathe

NEW YORK- The much-delayed Ambatovy joint venture in Madagascar is very close to making its first nickel shipment, according to David Pathe, president and chief executive officer of its largest stakeholder, Sherritt International Corp.
 
“We will have our first exports of finished metal from the island to paying customers as early as next week,” Pathe said during the company’s third-quarter conference call Wednesday.
He added that Sherritt has been extremely pleased with the ramp-up of the project so far, especially considering the skepticism surrounding projects using high-pressure acid-leaching (HPAL) technology. ....
