Severstal Dearborn furnace still down after blast

NEW YORK — The blast furnace at Severstal North America Inc.’s Dearborn, Mich., facility remained down Monday following a pipe explosion.

"We do not anticipate any impact on our customer deliveries and we continue working on fixing the pipe," a company spokeswoman told AMM in an e-mail Monday.

A source familiar with the matter said that the outage could last as long as five weeks, although the spokeswoman said she couldn’t confirm that estimate or provide any time frame for the outage.....
