NEW YORK — The town of Florence, Ariz., filed a response in federal court Tuesday denying Curis Resources (Arizona) Inc.’s allegations that a recently passed town ordinance banning the use of “large quantities” of sulfuric acid was unconstitutional.

Vancouver, British Columbia-based Curis, which hopes to commence copper mining at its Florence property using a sulfuric-acid-based extraction process, filed its suit in U.S. District Court in Arizona last month (, Oct. 23). ....
