NW Pipe’s sales clipped by energy pipe imports

CHICAGO — Northwest Pipe Co.’s sales slimmed in the third quarter as the company warned that imports of energy tubulars could hurt results from its tubular products business.
But the Vancouver, Wash.-based steel tube and pipe maker also predicted that the fourth quarter could bring a strong showing for its water transmission division.
“Consistent with other domestic tubular products producers, we expect continued competition from imports of energy products to reduce profitability for the tubular products....
