DJJ shutting WMR unit’s New Mexico scrapyard

NEW YORK — David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ) will shut down a scrap recycling facility in New Mexico this week in response to difficult market conditions, a DJJ spokeswoman confirmed.
The facility in Albuquerque, N.M., part of DJJ-owned Western Metals Recycling LLC (WMR), opened in late January last year.
WMR suspended operations at its Albuquerque scrap recycling facility Nov. 16, according to the spokeswoman for DJJ, a wholly owned subsidiary of Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker Nucor Corp.
