NEW YORK — High-carbon ferrochrome prices have strengthened on an uptick in spot business and as sellers pushed for higher numbers.
“I think mentally we’re at the bottom,” one trader said. “People are tired of selling at lower numbers and losing money.”
Prices are now at between 96 cents and $1.02 per pound, up from between 94 and 99 cents per pound previously, with business for truckload volumes reported at the top end of AMM’s range. More significant quantities were reported toward the lower end. ....
