China helps drive rise in stainless production

SHANGHAI — Global stainless steel output hit 8.3 million tonnes in the third quarter, up 2.6 percent from the same period a year earlier, according to data from the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF).

Output for the first nine months of the year rose 2.9 percent year on year to 26.1 million tonnes. However, there were big differences in the performance of the individual regions, the ISSF said.

China played an important role in the global output increase.....
