Stainless mills raise extras on uptick in moly, nickel prices

NEW YORK — Large domestic flat-rolled stainless steel producers have raised most surcharges slightly for February on the back of an uptick in nickel, ferrochrome and molybdenum prices.

West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel Corp. set its surcharges at 78.39 cents per pound for Type 304 material, up 1.2 percent from 77.47 cents this month; 52 cents per pound for Type 201, up 1.5 percent from 51.23 cents; and $1.1163 per pound for Type 316, up 2 percent from $1.0941.
