China crude stainless steel output tops 16 million tonnes in ’12

SHANGHAI — China’s crude stainless steel production rose 14.2 percent to 16.09 million tonnes last year, according to the China Stainless Steel Council (CSSC).
Production of 300-series material rose 9.5 percent from 2011 to 7.93 million tonnes, accounting for 49.3 percent of the country’s total stainless production; 400-series output rose nearly 3 percent to 3.21 million tonnes....
