NEW YORK Nucor Corp. announced a price increase of $40 per ton ($2 per hundredweight) on wire rod following an uptick in scrap prices last week, but it remains unclear how much of the change will stick, market sources said.
The company hiked rod prices effective with April 1 shipments, according to letters to customers dated March 8 and 11. It was the first announced increase in rod prices since November. ....
