NEW YORK U.S. stainless steel imports and consumption dropped in December compared with the same month a year earlier, according to data from the Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA).
Domestic consumption of all stainless products totaled 184,519 short tons in December, down 3.7 percent from 191,682 tons in the same 2011 month, while imports fell 6.8 percent to 50,518 tons from 54,190 tons.....
