Argentine slab imports soar on Siderar furnace stoppage

SÃO PAULO Argentinas slab imports more than doubled last year following a shutdown of the No. 2 blast furnace at Ternium SA subsidiary Siderar SAIC.
Imports totaled 215,076 tonnes, up from 104,801 tonnes in 2011, according to the AliceWeb Mercosur system, which brings together official figures from four members of the Mercosur trade block: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.....
