Kennecott maintains refining activity

NEW YORK Kennecott Utah Copper continues to produce cathode at its refinery using stockpiled inventory after an April 10 wall slide forced the company to halt mining operations at its Bingham Canyon Mine, although it isnt clear how much longer the refinery can operate without mine output, the company said.
"The mine itself is shut down as we assess safety and how we can move forward, but the rest of our operations continue with stockpiled inventory," a Kennecott spokesman told AMM. "Over the next couple of days, well determine how long our concentrated refinery will be able to continue to operate without getting supply from the mine." ....
