Spot aluminum billet premiums hold

CHICAGO — Aluminum billet market views are mixed, with some saying a seasonal demand uptick has largely failed to materialize as supplies increased, while others contend that the automotive, and building and construction markets are bringing some renewed vigor.

However, sources on both sides of the fence generally agreed that premiums remain unchanged at 12 to 13 cents per pound.
“I’m starting to see a little bit of a pickup in demand,” one producer source told AMM.
“Availability is becoming more hit and miss; everything is not available as it was,” he said, noting that 7-inch 6063, for example, has been “flying off the shelf.” ....
