Schnitzer loses Ore. shredder appeal

LOS ANGELES Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. has lost its challenge to a rival recyclers attempt to install its first shredder in Eugene, Ore., but the fight will continue on the state level.
Eugene hearings official Ross M. Williamson affirmed earlier code interpretations handed down by the citys planning director that support Eugene-based Pacific Recycling Inc.s plans to install a medium-sized shredder. Those interpretations were appealed by Portland, Ore.-based Schnitzer, which also has filed requests for code interpretations on....
