March housing starts hold cautionary signs

NEW YORK — March housing data released by the U.S. Census Bureau April 16 show continued growth in residential construction but could foreshadow a slowdown, Ken Simonson, chief economist for the Associated General Contractors of America, told AMM.
“This (report) is quite a mixed bag,” said Simonson. “This is the first time I’ve seen a reason to think we’re going to see a slowdown in multifamily (construction). (And) for single-family, there’s more evidence about caution for future starts.” ....
