Prolamsa picks Texas for tubulars mill

NEW YORK — Prolamsa Group will build a 300,000-ton-per-year welded energy tubulars mill in Bryan, Texas.
The $120-million facility will produce electric-resistant weld (ERW) energy tubulars up to 16 inches in diameter with wall thicknesses up to 0.625 inch, the company said.
AMM reported in mid-April that the company was considering Bryan for the mill (amm.com, April 15). Construction will begin in the coming weeks and plant commissioning is expected during the second quarter of 2014, with production to follow in the middle of the year. The plant....
